Sampling in muziek mag alleen als we enorme bedragen betalen. Onzin natuurlijk. Andy Warhol is groot geworden met zijn zeefdrukken van Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley, Jackie Onassis en de Campbell soepblikken. Ook dat is een vorm van sampling, wat we citeren noemen bij het geschreven woord.

Vroeger ging een schilder in het weiland zitten en schilderde het weiland na. Toen kwam de fotografie op. En pas vele jaren later beschikte vrijwel iedereen over een audio- en videorecorder.

Nu kan iedereen vastleggen, samplen, hergebruiken, arrangeren.
